Dear Baldwin Park Unified Community,
The Los Angeles County Department of Public Health has issued an Extreme Heat Warning for L.A. County beginning Thursday, August 21, at 11 a.m. through Saturday, August 23, at 9 p.m.
Out of an abundance of caution, and in response to the extreme heat, all Baldwin Park Unified schools will be taking the following safety measures:
- Limiting outdoor activities and providing alternative indoor options.
- Encouraging students to use shaded or air-conditioned spaces for longer breaks and meals.
- Carefully monitoring conditions and ensuring appropriate rest breaks for students and staff.
- Adjusting or canceling outdoor athletic programs as needed.
- Ensuring continuous access to water across all campuses.
BPUSD reminds everyone to take precautions to prevent heat-related illness. Older adults, young children, outdoor workers, athletes, and individuals with chronic health conditions are especially vulnerable to the effects of extreme heat.
In addition, a nearby Cooling Center is available for the community:
Esther Snyder Community Center
4100 Baldwin Park Blvd, Baldwin Park, CA 91706
Open Wednesday to Friday, 8 a.m. – 8 p.m.

Thank you for your attention and cooperation,
Baldwin Park Unified School District
